We Make A Difference

The American Business Club (ABC) is first and foremost a social club, formed in 1925 to foster fellowship and cooperation among its members. Additionally, ABC members are encouraged to have an interest in the public welfare and be of service to their community and society in general. Our charitable activities predominately benefit physically or economically challenged children.

Since 1954, the American Business Club of Springfield has managed concessions in the Grandstand at the Illinois State Fair. Starting in 2004, ABC began managing gate admissions at the Fair each year as well. Our State Fair projects demand an “all hands on deck” approach from Club members as we contribute and manage nearly 30,000 volunteer hours at every Fair. The end result is worth it since the agreements we have with the Illinois Department of Agriculture provide us funds we use each year to offer multiple scholarships for therapy students, donate dozens of specially-engineered Amtrykes to children and veterans, and contribute tens of thousands of dollars to scores of local charities. ABC makes a difference.

How Can Springfield ABC Help My Organization?

Through fundraising efforts of the Springfield American Business Club (Springfield ABC), monies are contributed back into our community to other not-for-profit organizations who service the disabled, disadvantaged and those who are in need.  Emphasis shall be placed on servicing youth needs first with funds available.  Contributions are made for special requests and not for overall general operating expenses.

The American Business Club of Springfield will start accepting applications for Grant requests later in 2024 for the 2025 Charity Grant Giving.

Success Stories

As a result of our Charities Day (March 16, 2017) Springfield ABC helps St. Patrick School make some changes.  http://www.sj-r.com/news/20170409/st-patrick-school-to-make-some-changes -- thanks to a grant from the American Business Club, the school is purchasing 10 computers from the local nonprofit, Computer Bank, and an additional 10 computers next year.
