Springfield ABC is honored to have one of our local members, Eric Oschwald, serving as National President (2016/2017).
Message from National President, Eric Oschwald --
The 94th National Conference was a great success. Ambucs and guests enjoyed the Tucson area and the beautiful Loews Venana Canyon Resort.
Many of you have heard my slogan:
~It's a great day to be an AMBUC. Tomorrow's going to be better.~
Well, we made a lot of tomorrows better in Tucson. We had a huge "Bike Build Day' on Wednesday; with over 160 members and volunteers working shoulders together to assemble 88 bikes. On Thursday we had a great dinner event, giving away 29 AmTrykes to veterans. On Saturday, we gave 60 bikes away during the 13th AmTryke Rodeo. Interspersing this with the tremendous speakers and numerous educational sessions made this conference a great event.
Al Bedell, immediate Past National President, told us at the Memphis conference that he was out of work and needed a job. So, we put him to work; 15 new chapters, many chapter visits, and dozens of Road Shows across the country. Thanks to Al for his dedication and leadership. I look forward to a great year with him and the newly installed President-Elect Kevin Sheehan. I also welcome Cindy Payton and Vic Menendez to the Board.
Hopefully you have heard by now that AMBUCS has a new Executive Director. I'm excited to introduce Jay Laurens to AMBUCS. Jay brings a wealth of experience, excitement and enthusiasm to his new position. We are thrilled to have Jay on board and can't wait to get him out into your region. Jay has a lot of work ahead of him as he gets a good grasp on everything AMBUCS. I ask that you show him compassion, understanding and support as he transitions into his new role and plans for the future of AMBUCS.
These are exciting times for AMBUCS. You should be thrilled to be a part of it; I know I am. Keep up the great work you are doing to meet the mission with AmTrykes, Scholarships and Community Service.
Eric Oschwald 2016-2017 AMBUCS National President
